this sucks or does it blow?

Getting ready to take down my show in town... The show in Decatur opens this Saturday. If you're in that area enjoy it for me, I won't be able to make it. Tonight I'll draw some more and take some photos to post...later

to hell with the clowns

Making art at night and working all day makes Joe a tired boy. Kristine asked me to illustrate a school assignment book today. I told her yes then found out she needs 20 drawings by December... I smiled and said I could fit it in. Content, kids with guns or something like that. It isn't about crime in school so don't get your panties in a bunch. It is in reference to the invisible children. If you don't know look it up. On a side note, all the sketchbooks I've found on line for the sketchbook project: fear, have been extremely good and so much more edgy than mine. When I look at my images they are far too clean stiff... back to the drawing board...

falling

Don't know where you are at but it is getting cold and wet here. The feel of winter is in the air and the chill is sinking in to the bones. I made another 24 head tiles and need to make a few more. I plan on taking a few days off from work to start three more sculptures for the show in December. Where did the year go? Soon it will be 08 and taxes will be due...

Peeping

Made more head tiles today... enough to make another panel of nine. I haven't heard anything from the gallery, guess the piece I sold at the opening is the only one that will sell there. Kristine told me to show at a different place, one that is more of an art gallery than craft store... she's right. Tomorrow will be another long day at work... yippee. Questions for all the wise folks out there... What is a blog supposed to do? How does one reach the audience they desire? I would like to trade thoughts with other struggling artists...

Another page from the sketchbook sent to Georgia... I made 5 tiles in the past couple days and drew on two. I need to contact the gallery owner I'm supposed to have a solo show in December. I'll have to stay busy if I'm going to have a decent show. Same for the one in April... that one will be drawings, I shouldn't be too stressed for that one... blah blah blah

Hole

Drew on a tile and made a head one to boot last night. Tonight I am going to a couple of friends house for dinner. Tomorrow I'll stop by the joint where my sculptures are and see whats up. The Sketchbook Project: fear show at Art House in Georgia opens in a couple weeks. I've put a few of my pages in here, on this blog site... if anyone sees them.

does this make me look fat?

Another rainy day. Hopefully the weekend will be sunny. I have been thinking of ideas for the tiles, but haven't gotten busy...

worm

Second day of teaching a new class. Tired and worn out due to stuff at home and long days at work. I haven't made anything new for a week or more. This week I have to get cracking on more drawings and tiles. I hate my job and a few other things that are bringing me down. I find solace in hiking through the woods but that doesn't happen near enough. Gotta prep for work tomorrow, the alarm seems to go off far too early.

surrender

Went to the opening last night. Sold one piece out of 12. Then hung out for an hour or two. I wanted to leave and just give up, there were a lot of openings and I didn't get to many. Very few people I knew showed up to my deal...thanks for the support for those that did. The head tiles and a few sculptures sparked some interest...we'll see if there was enough to bring folks back to buy. I went to one of the big venues and bought three pieces. My wife will kill me, but what the hell ya only live once. I'm thinking about stopping by the joint I'm in later to see if anyone actually goes there...

where's my village?

Set up my show at the co-op today where I'm a guest artist for the visual arts tour tomorrow. I have three areas in their store to display my stuff. After I finished there I drove by another gallery that was setting up a show from the Archie Bray. Had a beer with a few folks there...then the gallery owner asked if I was ready for my show in December...Oh hell yeah...now to get busy again. Tomorrow I'll send out my sketchbook to Atlanta. The wife took off for Seattle this afternoon. She could care less about any of the shows I'll be in unless I sell a piece or two. If I do she'll ask why I didn't sell more...I need another beer.
