No work tomorrow, freedom. I'll stop by the gallery and start hauling back my stuff. I sold a few, but not enough to generate that truly good feeling. The search starts for finding another gallery. This place wants me to show again when they have a new space... I told them I'd think about it. I've been searching through a lot of artist blogs... there are so many great artists out there. Sounds like many of them are actually making a living at it. What's the secret? Blah, blah, blah...

Took my work down to the gallery... not all of it fit... brought a few pieces home. I need to cut down a couple pedestals for two of my sculptures, or leave them on the ground. Last night was a weird one. I walked around down town in a haze. My mind was troubled about something, but I couldn't quite figure out why. Maybe I can clear the funk tonight.

I saw the card that is being mailed out for the show... Who ever laid out the images decided to crop out each of the tiles then set them up as if they weren't framed. I was a bit pissed off. Instead of leaving the piece in its true form, this person felt they should be able to alter it the way they liked. If and when someone goes to the show, they will see different work. Also the card said my work was face tiles and ink line drawing. The tiles with line drawings aren't ink. The lines are formed by scratching through white slip to allow the black clay underneath to show through... I guess I should have been there to clarify prior to the cards being made. Oh well. at least I have a show.

Working for the boss, working for the wife, and working to fill space. All work and no play...
Almost finished with another group of tiles. Think I'm going to put this idea to rest for a while. I need to make some more sculptures and a whole bunch of drawings. I will get started on a painting for the Baby Bar soon. Time is moving quickly better not waste too much sitting idle at this machine...

More tiles for those of you who care. The days are counting down quickly till I have to set up my stuff. The opening will be on April 4th. I need to get in touch with Dennis to see if there is anything else the gallery needs from me. I finished my artist statement and made business cards. Hope this thing goes off better than the one at the gallery in October.

I wait in the dim light of the computer screen for word from the gallery... was I accepted? The call is supposed to come tonight. Instead of sitting here I should be working on another piece... I need more inspiration, from where? The streets are cold and lonely, maybe I should roam them looking for a muse like a homeless person looks for dropped coins or a handout. At times I wonder about my own fate.

The days are too short, but the night could be longer. Still making shit in hopes for an eventual show. Work is boring me to death... I need some changes. The holidays are coming as well as the in-laws, God help me. I finished a few more drawings that I might use in the April show... we'll see if that one happens. Bitch, bitch, bitch. Think I'll drink a beer and draw some more.

what war?

Made another wall piece... to bad I don't have that show in December. I have enough now to have filled the walls and enough sculptures to fill the rest of the space. The owner has another artist from out of town, who is a real artist with a MFA, showing that month... I guess I was just filling a hole in the schedule. I was bummed for a few hours but decided to press on. Guess I'll have that show when there is another hole...

Clay heads

Got home from work to a sweltering house, jumped on the mountain bike and worked up a sweat. Last night while walking through the woods I happened on a few deer. One buck I've been running into quite regularly has a pretty nice rack. It isn't spooked by humans and allows you to get pretty close. I haven't seen any of the three moose, that roam the woods around here, in the past few weeks. Last night I talked to a homeless guy who is pulling all his worldly possessions in an improvised wagon camper. We talked for a while and I filled up his water bottles for him. He decided to sell everything and live out of this tarp on a small trailer until he feels like joining society again. After the economy gets better (to use his words) and after the mess in Iraq is over as well. I gave him some ideas on where to stay that would be off the beaten path and out of the eyes of those who might do him harm. By eleven thirty PM he was gone slowly dragging on down the road...I wish him luck.

ceramic head tiles

Evenings are cool and days are hot. The weather is starting to change. The mornings make me feel like fall will be here soon. I can't wait. When I get home for work it's still too hot to do much of anything. Tonight I'll walk along the trail and look for the moose and hopefully take a decent picture of them this time. This week I plan on making a few more tiles and starting on a couple more small sculptures. By the way does anyone see this, or am I wasting my time?
