The days are too short, but the night could be longer. Still making shit in hopes for an eventual show. Work is boring me to death... I need some changes. The holidays are coming as well as the in-laws, God help me. I finished a few more drawings that I might use in the April show... we'll see if that one happens. Bitch, bitch, bitch. Think I'll drink a beer and draw some more.

what war?

Made another wall piece... to bad I don't have that show in December. I have enough now to have filled the walls and enough sculptures to fill the rest of the space. The owner has another artist from out of town, who is a real artist with a MFA, showing that month... I guess I was just filling a hole in the schedule. I was bummed for a few hours but decided to press on. Guess I'll have that show when there is another hole...

F-ing backstabbers

I've been working on pieces for my show next month. Hope I can finish enough new stuff to make it interesting. Work has been busy lately so I haven't been as productive as I should have been. Saturday I screwed up a bisque firing... but almost everything made it through. Last noght I fired a cone 5 load. I should be able to unload it tonight and load another tomorrow. This is an image from that sketchbook I sent out...I didn't remember if I posted this one before or not. If I did oh well. Its time to go, my sister-in-law is visiting from Korea. She is a bit of a thief, so I'm supposed to stash some things she won't find. I just hope she doesn't break anything like she did last time she stayed with us.

Getting ready to take down my show in town... The show in Decatur opens this Saturday. If you're in that area enjoy it for me, I won't be able to make it. Tonight I'll draw some more and take some photos to post...later

to hell with the clowns

Making art at night and working all day makes Joe a tired boy. Kristine asked me to illustrate a school assignment book today. I told her yes then found out she needs 20 drawings by December... I smiled and said I could fit it in. Content, kids with guns or something like that. It isn't about crime in school so don't get your panties in a bunch. It is in reference to the invisible children. If you don't know look it up. On a side note, all the sketchbooks I've found on line for the sketchbook project: fear, have been extremely good and so much more edgy than mine. When I look at my images they are far too clean stiff... back to the drawing board...

falling

Don't know where you are at but it is getting cold and wet here. The feel of winter is in the air and the chill is sinking in to the bones. I made another 24 head tiles and need to make a few more. I plan on taking a few days off from work to start three more sculptures for the show in December. Where did the year go? Soon it will be 08 and taxes will be due...

Peeping

Made more head tiles today... enough to make another panel of nine. I haven't heard anything from the gallery, guess the piece I sold at the opening is the only one that will sell there. Kristine told me to show at a different place, one that is more of an art gallery than craft store... she's right. Tomorrow will be another long day at work... yippee. Questions for all the wise folks out there... What is a blog supposed to do? How does one reach the audience they desire? I would like to trade thoughts with other struggling artists...

Another page from the sketchbook sent to Georgia... I made 5 tiles in the past couple days and drew on two. I need to contact the gallery owner I'm supposed to have a solo show in December. I'll have to stay busy if I'm going to have a decent show. Same for the one in April... that one will be drawings, I shouldn't be too stressed for that one... blah blah blah

Hole

Drew on a tile and made a head one to boot last night. Tonight I am going to a couple of friends house for dinner. Tomorrow I'll stop by the joint where my sculptures are and see whats up. The Sketchbook Project: fear show at Art House in Georgia opens in a couple weeks. I've put a few of my pages in here, on this blog site... if anyone sees them.

Another rainy day. Hopefully the weekend will be sunny. I have been thinking of ideas for the tiles, but haven't gotten busy...
