Bad day
Not really a bad day, just a long one. I've made four new sculptures in the past few days and another series of nine head tiles. I was notified on Saturday that I will be the featured artist at a gallery in October. That is why I've been motivated to make new stuff. I will have plenty of new pieces by the time of the show. I never did get hold of the other gallery owner...oh well. In the next few days I'm going to talk to a coffee shop about displaying the tiles. It would be cool to get them up during the same time as the other show. Back to work .

Long day of work followed up by, well nothing so far. I tried to get hold of that gallery owner...no luck. I'll try again later. I've been in a bit of a rut lately. Haven't been able to get my ass in gear to make anything of substance or feeling. I stumble through the woods thinking about many ideas and themes but accomplish...nothing. I need a new muse an inspiration or even something to bring a smile to my face...blah, blah, blah...Time to quit whining and start working...later

Living on the edge of the woods
It's sights like this that make me enjoy where I live. Yesterday there was a fire near us that was contained quickly, thank God. The rains came today, things cooled off nicely. Hopefully we won't have anymore fires.
I finished all the tile pieces and hung them to see how they looked together...I was pleased. Tomorrow I am talking with a gallery owner, we'll see what he thinks. I think I have enough for a show but more is always better. I made some more tiles to draw on and sketched some more sculpture ideas. I also need to get working on some illustrations for a friends book and a sketchbook for a gallery in Atlanta...

Clay heads
Got home from work to a sweltering house, jumped on the mountain bike and worked up a sweat. Last night while walking through the woods I happened on a few deer. One buck I've been running into quite regularly has a pretty nice rack. It isn't spooked by humans and allows you to get pretty close. I haven't seen any of the three moose, that roam the woods around here, in the past few weeks. Last night I talked to a homeless guy who is pulling all his worldly possessions in an improvised wagon camper. We talked for a while and I filled up his water bottles for him. He decided to sell everything and live out of this tarp on a small trailer until he feels like joining society again. After the economy gets better (to use his words) and after the mess in Iraq is over as well. I gave him some ideas on where to stay that would be off the beaten path and out of the eyes of those who might do him harm. By eleven thirty PM he was gone slowly dragging on down the road...I wish him luck.

K-teen
Kristine graduates in another year then off to college. There goes my link to sanity. She encourages me to keep drawing and sculpting. When I think about making more traditional stuff she tells me to make things are me, not what I think others want...to be real. Last night I finished another wall piece...now to get busy on other things. God, it is hot here now. Hopefully we get some rain soon to cool this place down. Time now to go for a walk in the woods and talk to all the creatures I see.

ceramic head tiles
Evenings are cool and days are hot. The weather is starting to change. The mornings make me feel like fall will be here soon. I can't wait. When I get home for work it's still too hot to do much of anything. Tonight I'll walk along the trail and look for the moose and hopefully take a decent picture of them this time. This week I plan on making a few more tiles and starting on a couple more small sculptures. By the way does anyone see this, or am I wasting my time?

zombie page

This is how I felt at work today. After a night of no sleep and pain radiating from my shoulders up the back of my neck into my head. I did manage to make a couple more wall hanging low relief sculptures. I also took a couple hour walk through the woods. The construction around here is trashing the forest and the trail. Normally I see deer and the occasional moose...not tonight. I only saw a few song birds and nothing else. Urban sprawl, is that what they call it?
