Torture

The weekend is almost over. Tomorrow i need to finish two more sculptures for the show on Friday. I have had a headache all day today and can't seem to shake it. I guess I feel sort of like this drawing, hanging around waiting for the next bout of abuse. I decided I am going to make more wall hanging tile pieces. i want to have at least 15 for another show at the end of the year. I also need to start drawing for the show in April... I need to make a few more larger sculptures for another gallery and then 3 smaller ones for the Raw Space deal during the Feb visual arts tour... Why am I typing when I have better things to do?

crash

Went to an art supply gathering today. Bought more sketchbooks and more micron pens. Talked to a guy that inks comic books or graphic novels and has a lot of talent...he mentioned a 24 hour 24 page draw off at a local shop that sells graphic novels and the like. He wondered if I would be interested in getting involved. Wired (energy drink) and Cansen are sponsoring the event. I told him I would think about it. If I do it I'll bring brushes along with the pens. If I only bring pens I'd never finish.

sketchbook done

Finished with the sketchbook project: fear. Now to show it to a few folks around here then get it in the mail. The weather has changed, now it is raining and cool. Guess fall is really here now. Fliers went out for the show I'm in next week. Hope I have enough pieces for it and that I succeed in dealing with people...I get a little tense unless I have a couple drinks. Will try to fire a bisque load and a high fire in the next few days...wish me luck...blah, blah, blah.

the sketchbook project

Took a few minutes and sketched another page...only one to go...I started on another project for another show at a local gallery. Still haven't talked to the coffee shop to see if I can hang some drawings in clay. I might give that a try tomorrow. Now I have to go entertain guests...

Visitor

Another page from the sketchbook project: fear. Went to the gallery today to talk with them about where I'm setting up my stuff next week. After I left I knew as much or less than I did before I got there. I'll play it by ear and bring pedestals and extra sculptures for the set-up on Thursday. Still need two more sketches then I can mail my sketchbook. I'll try to finish it tonight or tomorrow. Later folks...if you're out there.

Sample

Here is a sample of one of the sketches for the Fear theme book for the show in Atlanta. Only 32 total sketches in it... not enough pages. The paper was too thin to draw on both sides..oh well. I'll post more later. Gotta go eat...

she hates art

Went out to one of my wife's friend's houses last night. Stayed till 1:00 AM. Didn't mind because her friend's husband is a pretty good artist who is easy to talk to. We talked for quite awhile then left for home. Upon arrival I found a postcard from the day prior mail. It was from another artist who wants me to be in a show with him in April of next year. The shows are coming in and I smile. Now to make more work. My wife still hates the fact that I'm spending too much time drawing and sculpting. The only time she somewhat appreciates it is when I sell a piece. Oh well, such is life. Today after work I finished this piece and worked on a couple others...blah, blah, blog...

sniff

Went out last night to my favorite bar. I went there to come up with ideas for sculptures and drawings. The bartender/owner was looking at my sketchbook when the guy on the stool next to me asks if he can look too. I said sure...he asked if he can use one of the images for the inner liner or back of his CD his band is getting ready to put out. He wants me to send an electronic copy to him...I'm unsure. I listened to a couple tracks of his music..indie...sounded good actually better than good. I think I'll draw another copy of the image he liked and sell it to him. Today I made a couple more clay sculptures. Don't know if I like them, I need to put some more work into them later and see if I change my opinion.

creep

Long hours at the place that helps pay the bills. Came home an drew another page in the sketchbook. Not long till it's due to be in the mail and on its merry way to Georgia. I still haven't got my hands in clay to make anything else for next months show...I need to get some more inspiration from some where. Last night I only slept for a three hours and bed time is coming soon. Hopefully tonight I can get some rest. Keep on doin' what ya do...

Drawn...

Just spent the morning cleaning up the neighborhood. Lots of trash and such thrown out car windows all along the roads and trails near here. Had a good time helping out the few people who showed up to help. Heard back from the gallery that is showing some of my pieces in a group show (3 artists total). They liked what I sent so far...now to make some that will be a little more odd for their quaint little store/gallery. I was told mine were getting the area along the front windows of the gallery so that's cool. Now I need to get back to drawing and maybe start another sculpture.

Rock-it

Funky dude slinging rocks. Next months show is coming quick. I need to make a few more pieces to be ready for it. Last night I did a bisque fire and pushed the heat too fast. I lost one sculpture but might be able to salvage it. Last weekend, went out on first Friday art walk. Drank some beer and met interesting people. While talking to a gallery owner I mentioned doing a show there. Bring by some images and we'll talk. Later after the owner saw me making a note in a sketchbook he asked if he could look through. Sure was my reply, then he said could you have some drawings on the wall for your show in December or January? Now I need to get busy and make some more substantial stuff. He and another person offered to buy my sketchbook that is for the show in Atlanta. I told them both if and when it comes back from the show we will talk about then.

Nice SUV

Been working on sculptures lately. Made a few for this show I'm in next month. Been keeping them tame, then it hit me, why am I making stuff for this gallery when I should be making it from me. So far I've had success at selling my images and not what I think the gallery will like or along their style of shit they sell. I'm thinking of making political or social comment pieces that deal with the problems we currently face. So fuck the cute shit and back to work on my agenda.
