another red bug

Yes, another bug... and one that hurts when it bites... BAD. Tomorrow we head to Seattle and turn north. After dropping off Kristine at school, we are going to do a little site seeing. If I find time to draw I'll post 'em when I get back. If not I'll resume next Thursday. Later...

It's so real. I'm wondering if you counted up the legs when drawing.

Thank you Mayumi for the comment/question. I try to keep them somewhat realistic, I tweek the color, size, body posture, and such. I count the legs and body segments, but I sometimes lose count, so they may not be accurate. I also have noticed in the past couple months that I need to wear reading glasses to see the finer details. Oh well, it has been fun doing these bugs. I used to draw a lot of bugs on my ceramic sculptures, but never to this level of detail.

I like your journal pages although I don't like bugs at all! (except ladybug of course). I like your commitment to details. You can really see things. :)

Have a great trip to Seattle and beyond. Come back with more great sketches.

I think you have progressed to a greater height doing insect drawings.
This entry has shown remarkably fine details especially on the legs, as how they should be curved....
Love your black and white style, very oriental piece with the YIN-YANG feel & touch.
Thanks.

Aaaargh!! I thought I'd seen it somewhere before. There was one of these (but black, not red) in my bathtub the other night, big, very scary. I knew I'd seen it drawn here (this is now my insect-reference guide). It's a sort of centipede isn't it? Never seen one before. I got rid of it sharpish.

this is a giant centipede, from what i've seen and researched there are different types and colors . in my experience the biggest ones i've encontered were in texas (everything is bigger there).
