Spent two weeks in Enterprise, Alabama. They have a monument for a boll weevil in the center of town... I did get a little work done in the sketchbooks, but only a little...
Incredible detail - hideous looking little blighter!
Of a similar note, the village church of Kingsclere, Hampshire , UK has a bug as its weathervane. Legend has it that King John's journey was interrupted by bad weather and he had to stay at a local Inn and was beset upon by bedbugs ... he demanded that there be a warning to all who travel to the village of the fate that would befall them!
I hope you post some pages from your Japanese moly. Charles Rennie Mackintosh was influenced by Japanese art (as were many of the early 20th century artists of note)
I was going to comment on another drawing but then I saw this...This could be one of my favorite renderings of all time...great work you have on your blog. Nice line work throughout. I will be addding you to my www.barratuna.blogspot list of links so I can keep track of your stuff.

So that's what they look like up close! Nice! I love that Johnny Cash song- it is Johnny Cash, isn't it?
Yes it is, and one I heard quite a bit as I was growing up. Other bands did remakes to include CCR.

I never heard from a boll weevil, but it surely looks mean. I admire how you draw nasty things beautifully.
Thanks Rene and bubblemunch.
kinda makes you wonder about the inhabitants of Enterprise, Alabama. Cool drawing regardless.
A monument to a boll weevil ...sounds a bit H.P Lovecraft
